There are some flights showing up on COPA from Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) in September, October, and November for $220 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

How to find and book this deal
1. These can be booked in two ways:
a) Search on Skyscanner and eventually click through to AirfareNetwork.com
or
b) Search on Momondo and eventually click through to FareGeek.com
2. When you get to Skyscanner or Momondo, search for a flight from Toronto (YYZ) to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)
3. Use one of the following date combinations:
Sep 7 to Sep 19, 20, 21, 22 or 24
Sep 13 to Sep 20 or 24
Sep 14 to Sep 25 or 26
Sep 14 to Oct 1
Sep 19 to Sep 26
Sep 19 or 20 to Oct 3, 4, 6, 7, or 8
Oct 12 to Oct 23, 24, or 25
Oct 19 to Oct 25
Oct 19 to Nov 1, 2, 3, or 5
Oct 26 to Nov 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11

Both Airfarenetwork and Faregeek are currently verifying the $220 prices, but they're both pretty low quality booking sites. I'm not completely confident that either one can actually book this price, but they are currently the only ones showing it. Everyone else is showing at least $330.
Some dates have an overnight layover in Panama on the way back.

Update 10/24 - November 9 to November 15 is currently available for $252 CAD roundtrip including taxes
There are a handful of other cheap dates in November, but most involve really long stopovers. This is the only cheap date combination with decent stopover lengths.
1. Try this Google Flights search....
Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica
2. Select your flights and click through to the COPA website
3. In the bottom right, change it from $USD to $CAD.

1. Go to Momondo or Skyscanner
2. Search for a flight from Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)
3. Use one of the following date combinations:
February 3 to February 6, 7, 9, or 10

Your best bet is to click through from Momondo or Skyscanner to Expedia for booking.

March 14, 17, or 18 to March 26
March 17 to March 30
March 20 to March 30
With such limited dates, these don't tend to last very long.

3. Use the following date combination:
Jan 31 to Feb 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, or 16
With only one departure date, this probably won't last very long.

Although there isn't an outbound flight with an ideal layover time in Panama City. It's either 7 hours, or nearly a full day (22 hours). There are faster flights coming home.
